About Me

My photo
I am a 22 year old who just finished my bachelors degree in Health Care Administration. I work at Mercy and am enthusiastic about starting my career. I have a beautiful family and am blessed with a wonderful man to love. (You'll know when I get a ring!) My blog is named Spoken For after a song by Mercy Me that explains my salvation in Jesus Christ. My faith defines me. I love music and plan on sharing quotes often. "Covered by a love devine, child of the risen lord. To hear you say this ones mine, My heart is Spoken For."

Oh fall, I love you. Work, not so much.

Hello everyone! miss me? (not sure if anyone really even follows this) but if you do. Sorry. The last couple of weeks have been kind of slow. The highlights were watching the sooners play in Norman, a night out with all four of my best friends, and starting yoga (there will be no pictures of that!)

Fall seems to be flying by and Halloween is fast approaching. I will be honest, this is usually my favorite time of year, but this year is a little depressing. Fall has always been full of football games, new classes, and group trips for coffee. I really miss being in school. Starting my job was very exciting and new. Now that the new smell has worn off, I am beginning to question if this is really the path I want to be on. My poor friend Jennifer had to listen to me play "what if" while downing margaritas at Chilis! I know I am still pretty young, but I feel like I am called to do more than warm an office chair for 8 hours. I really need to be hitting my knees and keeping my heart open for God's guidence.

On the upside, I have a boyfriend who is unbelievabley supportive. He can tell that I have not been myself lately and has made many suggestions to help me feel better. No matter what I do in life I am glad he is beside me! My poor friend Ryan has been feeling the same lately. Maybe this kind of slump happens to lots of college graduates who set their standards high and have the world shut them down. Last night I actually watched ELF to put me in a better mood, and I fell asleep by 8. It was awesome. Another really cool thing is that I went full time at work! I have been working 80 hours but I was considered "flex" with no benefits. I now have insurance and am aquiring PTO! It is pretty awesome. I feel so relieved to have Health Insurance. Not having it is such a huge gamble. Especially with swine flu breaking out in Oklahoma. Overall life is good! I guess I just need a little more of a challenge. Hence, I started yoga. That will do it! Those people are flex-y!!!

Friends, or the lack thereof...

WEll, I was informed that I do not blog enough, so here I am! :) Thanks Jenn~~

It has been a busy couple of weeks and here is the summary. Corey had a great game the last two Fridays and El Reno remains undefeated. Luke, J-dub (Jennifer), and my older brother Justin traveled to Altus and had a crazy road-trip. The car died for a second on the way down there, we laughed so hard at the song "fireflies," we got caught in monsoon rain at the game, had to buy new clothes at walmart, and then made a royal mistake of stopping in the white-trash capital of Lawton to get some late-night grub!

Luke's parents returned from Canada last Thursday and we are so happy they are home for awhile. My sister came down with H1N1, but due to some prayer warriors, she is feeling much better. I have decided I need a second job and have really been struggling to accept that.

But here is what I really want to "blog" about, Friends. The older I get the harder it is for me to make, or even keep, friends. Maybe you are like me: I can count my great friends on one hand and have lost track of how many acquaintances I have. I have really struggled with this for two reasons. When I was in high school I had a pretty solid group of friends. There were about 6 of us that were inseparable and then I had friends through basketball, choir, drama ect. The other reason it erks me not to have a big group of friends is because I am tempted to blame myself. I am obviously not in high school any more, but I am very particular about who I surround myself with. Growing up my mom said a million times, "you are who you run with." I can look back now and see the solid truth in her advise. Here are some of my criteria in picking friends:

Are you a Christian? I do not expect for my friends to agree with all of my beliefs, but associating yourself with non-believers is a recipe for disaster.

Do we have the same morals? I have lost several friends over this topic and I don't feel the need to give examples. But, if I strongly disagree with how someone is living there life, it becomes impossible to stay friends.
ANd Finally, Are you a giver or a taker? I consider myself a very generous person, and sadly I know how it feels to be used or taken advantage of.

So there you have it Sierra's friend requirements. It would also be nice to have friends with something in common. At my age, people are either being completely irresponsible or already have a family (which may be the result of being irresponsible) :)

Although I miss the companionship's I had in High school, I am content with the good friends I do have and eager to meet the ones to come in the future.

Since Luke and I saw Toy Story in 3d and it matches the post, here are your lyrics for the day: "You've got a friend in me, You've got a friend in me. If You've got problems, I've get em too. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you. We stick together and can see them through. Cause you've got a friend in me. Ya You've got a friend in me! "

FALL IS HERE!!!

FAll is my absolute favorite time of year!! I can literally smell it coming on. The air is crisp and cool and I can close my eyes and imagine sipping a spiced caramel apple cider from Starbucks while pre-Christmas shopping or snuggled up in a hoodie cheering on my team at a football game!

Speaking of Football-- you may have noticed that is the theme for my pictures on this blog. My brother Corey is a Senior for El Reno this year and has been tearing up the football field with his fellow lineman. El Reno has a new coach and is doing a great job compared to years past. We actually beat Guthrie for the first time since 2000! Since my boyfriend is a Guthrian, I was beaming with pride! This coming Friday the game is in Altus, ROAD TRIP! It is so crazy to me that Corey is a Senior. I think I am more concerned about how old I am getting, rather than how he is growing up! haha. My best friend from high school, Jennifer, went to the last home game with us. It was so weird passing the student section. I did not know anyone!! I was also very annoyed with their rambunctious behavior. See, told you I am getting old!! Jennifer swears we were never that little and we just had to laugh at ourselves. Well, I hope everyone is as excited about Fall as I am. Klove said it was here at 4:18 this afternoon. Whether you spend it on the football field, picking out pumpkins, or buying new sweaters, I hope everyone remembers to enjoy this weather and take time to thank our heavenly father who so graciously provides it!!
HAVE A GREAT REST OF THE WEEK.

PS- Corey is number 72. He may be 18, but he is off limits ladies! That's my baby brother! :)

Happy Birthday Dad!

*I know this is not an awesome picture but I love it because we were having fun on vacation and my Dad is Smiling so big!
Septemeber 17th is an important day in our household! It is the birthday of my Great Grandpa David and my Dad! Grandpa David will be celebrating with Jesus tomorrow while we celebrate with dad down here. I think it is appropriate to tell you a bit about my awesome dad. My dad did the usual: he attended my ball games, taught me how to drive, and threatened my boyfriends with shoutguns. What is extraordinary about my dad is that he was not obligated to so. My parents got divorced when I was young, and in the words of Forrest Gump, "Thats all I have to say about that." :) The day my dad said "I Do" to my mom he also gained two children.
Have you ever heard the saying, "The best thing a father can do for his children is love their Mother?" I believe this proposition holds true. I am so much like my mother that I can say this, there were many times that his support kept her from pulling her hair out. I won't reveal which smart-mouth teenager drove her to the edge, but she is now a respectful college graduate! :) I have recently realized that the things I love so much about Luke are things he has in common with My dad. What a blessing! I could go on and on, but I will end with this-
Here is to the years that made you you and to the many more we get to spend together. Happy Birthday Dad!
"Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday dear DA-AD. Happy Birthday to you!"

Hello!!!

Hello!

My name is Sierra and this is my first blog. I do not know much about blogging, but I do like to talk. Therefor, I figure this will be fun. I guess I should start by introducing myself. I am a 22 year old college graduate who has a boyfriend, loves her family, scrap booking, shoes, and purses. But above all of that I love my Jesus (I feel that is pretty important.) I also love music and am hoping to post some entertaining and meaningful lyrics at the ends of my posts. Although I have not figured it out yet, I plan on having a cute new background. I have wasted 2 hours on it tonight, so this will have to do for now! My life has recently changed profoundly and that has inspired me to blog. I just graduated this summer and it seemed like I walked across the stage, packed up my apartment, moved to a new one, and started a new job all in about 30 minutes!!! Actually, it was a couple of months, but that was still a lot of change in a little amount of time. I am now closer to my boyfriend and starting an actual career which are both very exciting. I also live a couple miles from one of my very best friends!! On the downside, I moved very far away from my other best friend and am no longer a student. For those who have ran the four year race, you may sympathize with the sadness I feel being in one spot from 8 to 5 and not meeting up with friends for coffee or hushed gossip in the library when you should be studying. Ahh, how I miss the spontaneity of a college schedule.

Back to the real world- I am hoping this blog will not only allow me to write down my thoughts, but also give me a way to connect with friends. My boyfriend has an older sister who blogs often. I don't get to see her much, so I like to see what she and her cute girlies are up to. (My boyfriend calls it stalking!) haha. Either way you see it, I hope that my writing can somehow inspire or entertain those who come across it.

It took me awhile to think of a catchy title for my blog, but I have decided on "Spoken For." The phrase comes from a song written by Mercy Me explaining the salvation we Christians have in Jesus Christ.

"covered by a love divine, child of the risen Lord. To hear you say this one's mine, my heart is Spoken For...."
